Astro, also known as Akihisa Takahashi, began producing techno music in 1999 during his high school years, starting his career as a teenage trackmaker and DJ.
At the age of 20, he became the youngest-ever resident DJ at UnderLounge, one of the most popular and largest clubs in the Kansai region at the time, supporting numerous internationally renowned artists as a front act.In September 2004, he released a 3-track EP titled "N47" (12-inch vinyl) on Elephanthaus Records, a Chicago/Detroit-based label associated with Cristian Varela.The release gained significant attention after being supported by leading DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Christian Smith, Marco Bailey, Josh Wink, Technasia, and Kevin Saunderson.

 

After this release, he paused his music production activities for several years, but made a full return in November 2022.In June 2024, his work was recognized by top techno producer Christian Smith, leading to the release of his original track "Celestia" on the prestigious techno label TRONIC’s compilation album Treatment Vol.1. The track received support from DJs such as Pagano and Karotte, attracting attention within the scene.

 

In January 2025, he released a three-track EP, Dialga EP, on TRONIC. The release ranked in Beatport's Techno (Peak Time / Driving) Top 100 Tracks and Top 100 Releases, as well as in Traxsource's Techno Essentials Top 5 and Techno Chart Top 20. Furthermore, he received high praise from Adam Beyer, Victor Ruiz, Secret Cinema, Anné, and Anja Schneider. The EP was also featured in Hertz’s Beatport chart, generating considerable buzz.

 

Additionally, he was featured as a guest on TRONIC RADIO episodes No.625 and No.654, a renowned mix series that has hosted legendary artists like Carl Cox and Ken Ishii, further solidifying his presence in the global techno scene.

1999年、高校生の頃から独学でテクノミュージックの楽曲制作を開始し、10代でトラックメーカー兼DJとしてキャリアをスタート。
20歳の時、当時関西最大級の集客と人気を誇っていた大型クラブ UnderLounge で歴代最年少レギュラーDJに抜擢され、数々の海外著名アーティストのフロントアクトを務める。2004年9月には、Cristian Varela が所属するシカゴ／デトロイト拠点の Elephanthaus Records から、3トラック収録のEP 「N47 EP」（12inch/Vinyl）をリリースし、 Richie Hawtin、Christian Smith、Marco Bailey、Josh Wink、Technasia、Kevin Saunderson など、名だたるトップDJたちにプレイされ脚光を浴びる。

 

2006年以降は活動休止していたが、2022年11月より本格的に楽曲制作を再開。2024年6月にトップテクノプロデューサー Christian Smith に楽曲を評価され、名門テクノレーベル TRONIC のコンピレーションアルバム Treatment Vol.1 にてオリジナルトラック 「Celestia」 をリリースし、Pagano や Karotte 等にプレイされ注目を集める。

 

2025年1月にTRONICより3トラック収録のEP「Dialga EP」をリリース。BeatportのTechno (Peak Time / Driving) Top 100 TracksおよびTop 100 Releases、TraxsourceのTechno Essentials Top 5とTechno Chart Top 20にランクイン。さらに、Adam Beyer、Victor Ruiz、Secret Cinema、Anné、Anja Schneider等から高評価のフィードバックを受け、HertzのBeatportチャートにも掲載され話題を呼ぶ。

その他、Carl CoxやKen Ishiiなど著名アーティストのDJ MIXが配信されているTRONIC RADIO のNo.625とNo.654 を担当し、精力的に活動している。
